I declare the end from the beginning, and from ancient times what is still to come. I say, ‘My purpose will stand, and all My good pleasure I will accomplish.’
Notes
God knows the future before it happens; he controls all events, and his actions match his words (Isaiah 41:4, 26). He is the first and the last (Isaiah 44:6; 48:12).
Many exiles felt hopeless and doubted God's promise to rescue them. God addressed this doubt.
