Notes

there is none like You: David affirms God's uniqueness (see also 2 Samuel 22:32; Deuteronomy 4:39; 1 Samuel 2:2).

David responded with prayer to God’s promise that his family would rule as kings for many generations. In his prayer, he repeatedly acknowledged that God alone is the true king and Sovereign Lord.

David was not happy just making a tent for the ark (2 Samuel 6:17). He wanted to build a house for God.
