Notes

Godly people imitate God by being generous, compassionate, and righteous (Psalms 51:1; 111:1–10; 2 Corinthians 9:9). They lend money to the poor without charging interest (Psalms 15:5; 112:9; Exodus 22:25).

The fear of the Lord leads to a wise life that honors God and brings blessing to the family and the community. The godly follow God with joy. Their obedience does not come from fear like a slave obeying a master.

This psalm repeats the themes of wisdom and the fear of the Lord (Psalm 111). Wise people have reasons to be happy (Psalm 112:1–5) and strong (112:6–10).

The word Hallelujah! is repeated throughout this group of psalms.
