As the day of His ascension approached, Jesus resolutely set out for Jerusalem.

Notes

Jesus resolutely set out for Jerusalem: Even though the route was not direct, Jerusalem was his final destination.

The journey to Jerusalem marked a new stage in the mission of Jesus as the Messiah, which would include suffering. During this time, he prepared his disciples for what was ahead, and the Jewish leaders opposed him more and more.
