Notes
You are the Son of God!: This was a title used for the Christ (God’s chosen king and deliverer, the Messiah; see 2 Samuel 7:14; Psalms 2:7; 89:26–27). Luke often connects the titles Christ and the Son of God (Luke 9:35; 22:66–71; Acts 9:20, 22).
would not allow them to speak: Jesus often showed his authority over demons by making them silent. He wanted to reveal his identity in his own way, not through their announcement.
