Notes

Blessed rather: Jesus again affirmed that our spiritual life and our relationship with God are more important than physical ancestry and family relationships (compare 8:21).

Jesus faced two challenges. He answered the first, an accusation that he was driving out demons by Satan's power (11:15), in 11:17–26. The second was a demand for "a sign from heaven" (11:16). He answered this in 11:29–32.
