  1. It shall be a sign for you on your hand and a reminder on your forehead that the Law of the LORD is to be on your lips. For with a mighty hand the LORD brought you out of Egypt.
  2. The LORD said to Moses, “Behold, I will come to you in a dense cloud, so that the people will hear when I speak with you, and they will always put their trust in you.” And Moses relayed to the LORD what the people had said.
  3. When Moses came and told the people all the words and ordinances of the LORD, they all responded with one voice: “All the words that the LORD has spoken, we will do.”
  4. And Moses wrote down all the words of the LORD. Early the next morning he got up and built an altar at the base of the mountain, along with twelve pillars for the twelve tribes of Israel.
  5. You must not add to or subtract from what I command you, so that you may keep the commandments of the LORD your God that I am giving you.
  6. See, I have taught you statutes and ordinances just as the LORD my God has commanded me, so that you may follow them in the land that you are about to enter and possess.
  7. Observe them carefully, for this will show your wisdom and understanding in the sight of the peoples, who will hear of all these statutes and say, “Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.”
  8. And what nation is great enough to have righteous statutes and ordinances like this entire law I set before you today?
  9. The day you stood before the LORD your God at Horeb, the LORD said to me, “Gather the people before Me to hear My words, so that they may learn to fear Me all the days they live on the earth, and that they may teach them to their children.”
  10. At that time the LORD commanded me to teach you the statutes and ordinances you are to follow in the land that you are crossing the Jordan to possess.
  11. These words I am commanding you today are to be upon your hearts. …
  12. He humbled you, and in your hunger He gave you manna to eat, which neither you nor your fathers had known, so that you might understand that man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of the LORD.
  13. Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as reminders on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. …
  14. When he is seated on his royal throne, he must write for himself a copy of this instruction on a scroll in the presence of the Levitical priests.
  15. It is to remain with him, and he is to read from it all the days of his life, so that he may learn to fear the LORD his God by carefully observing all the words of this instruction and these statutes.
  16. And on the day you cross the Jordan into the land that the LORD your God is giving you, set up large stones and coat them with plaster.
  17. Write on them all the words of this law when you have crossed over to enter the land that the LORD your God is giving you, a land flowing with milk and honey, just as the LORD, the God of your fathers, has promised you.
  18. And you shall write distinctly upon these stones all the words of this law.”
  19. The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever, so that we may follow all the words of this law.

  25. This Book of the Law must not depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. For then you will prosper and succeed in all you do.

  152. Thus you nullify the word of God by the tradition you have handed down. And you do so in many such matters.”

  157. He is like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid his foundation on the rock. When the flood came, the torrent crashed against that house but could not shake it, because it was well built.

  165. After He was raised from the dead, His disciples remembered that He had said this. Then they believed the Scripture and the word that Jesus had spoken.
  166. Truly, truly, I tell you, whoever hears My word and believes Him who sent Me has eternal life and will not come under judgment. Indeed, he has crossed over from death to life.
  167. You pore over the Scriptures because you presume that by them you possess eternal life. These are the very words that testify about Me,
  168. The Spirit gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life.
  169. So He said to the Jews who had believed Him, “If you continue in My word, you are truly My disciples.
  170. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
  171. If he called them gods to whom the word of God came—and the Scripture cannot be broken—
  172. You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you.
  173. For I have given them the words You gave Me, and they have received them. They knew with certainty that I came from You, and they believed that You sent Me.
  174. I have given them Your word and the world has hated them. For they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.
  175. Sanctify them by the truth; Your word is truth.
  176. For them I sanctify Myself, so that they too may be sanctified by the truth.
  177. I am not asking on behalf of them alone, but also on behalf of those who will believe in Me through their message,
  178. But these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in His name.
  179. The voice spoke to him a second time: “Do not call anything impure that God has made clean.”
  180. Now the Bereans were more noble-minded than the Thessalonians, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if these teachings were true.
  181. And now I commit you to God and to the word of His grace, which can build you up and give you an inheritance among all who are sanctified.
  182. …to open their eyes, so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those sanctified by faith in Me.’
  183. But I have had God’s help to this day, and I stand here to testify to small and great alike. I am saying nothing beyond what the prophets and Moses said would happen:
  184. What, then, is the advantage of being a Jew? Or what is the value of circumcision?
  185. Much in every way. First of all, they have been entrusted with the very words of God.
  186. Now the words “it was credited to him” were written not only for Abraham,
  187. …but also for us, to whom righteousness will be credited—for us who believe in Him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead.
  188. But thanks be to God that, though you once were slaves to sin, you wholeheartedly obeyed the form of teaching to which you were committed.
  189. …the people of Israel. Theirs is the adoption as sons; theirs the divine glory and the covenants; theirs the giving of the law, the temple worship, and the promises.
  190. It is not as though God’s word has failed. For not all who are descended from Israel are Israel.
  191. Consequently, faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.
  192. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.
  193. For everything that was written in the past was written for our instruction, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures, we might have hope.
  194. …but now revealed and made known through the writings of the prophets by the command of the eternal God, in order to lead all nations to the obedience that comes from faith—
  195. And this is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom, but in words taught by the Spirit, expressing spiritual truths in spiritual words.

  197. To the married I give this command (not I, but the Lord): A wife must not separate from her husband.
  198. To the rest I say this (I, not the Lord): If a brother has an unbelieving wife and she is willing to live with him, he must not divorce her.

  200. Now these things happened to them as examples and were written down as warnings for us, on whom the fulfillment of the ages has come.
  201. Now I commend you for remembering me in everything and for maintaining the traditions, just as I passed them on to you.
