No longer will you be called Forsaken, nor your land named Desolate; but you will be called Hephzibah, and your land Beulah; for the LORD will take delight in you, and your land will be His bride.
Traditional
Thou shalt no more be termed Forsaken; neither shall thy land any more be termed Desolate: but thou shalt be called Hephzi–bah, and thy land Beulah: for the Lord delighteth in thee, and thy land shall be married.
Literal
It is not said of you any longer “Azubah”, and of your land it will not be said anymore “Shemamah”; but you will be called “Hephzibah”, and your land “Beulah.” For YHWH delights in you, and your land will be married.

Non vocaberis ultra Derelicta, et terra tua non vocabitur amplius Desolata; sed vocaberis, Voluntas mea in ea, et terra tua Inhabitata, quia complacuit Domino in te, et terra tua inhabitabitur.

Notes

  • Forsaken: During the exile in Babylon, the Lord left his people to face the judgment they deserved (Isaiah 54:7).

  • His bride: The people will be "married" to the Lord, symbolizing a close covenant relationship (Isaiah 54:5; Hosea 1–3).

The servant here commits himself to proclaiming the good news continuously until the glory of Zion is realized.
