Notes

God’s people, whom the world ignores and looks down on, will be shown to be right (Matthew 19:30). The humble will overcome those who oppress and persecute them (see Isaiah 61:3).

This psalm of praise celebrates the Lord's victory. God is the Maker of Israel (Psalm 149:1–2) and the victorious King who shares his glory with his faithful followers (149:3–9).

The Psalter ends with five hallelujah psalms, so named because each begins and ends with Praise the LORD! (Hebrew haleluyah).
