What I mean is this: The law that came 430 years later does not revoke the covenant previously established by God, so as to nullify the promise.
Traditional
And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect.
Literal
Now I say this: The law, having come four hundred and thirty years afterward, does not repeal the covenant having been ratified beforehand by God, so as to nullify the promise.

Notes

  • Just as human covenants cannot be canceled (3:15), the terms of God's covenant with Abraham were not changed when God gave Moses the law.

Jesus, not the law, has fulfilled the promise and agreement (covenant) made with Abraham.
