Brethren, I speak after the manner of men; Though it be but a man’s covenant, yet if it be confirmed, no man disannulleth, or addeth thereto.

Brothers, I am speaking according to man. Even a covenant of man having been ratified, no one sets it aside or adds thereto.

Notes

When a person dies, their written instructions about who should receive their property (called a will) cannot be changed. These instructions must be followed exactly as they were written.

Jesus, not the law, has fulfilled the promise and agreement (covenant) made with Abraham.
