Original

Hebrew
English
And you, O watchtower of the flock, O stronghold of the Daughter of Zion—the former dominion will be restored to you; sovereignty will come to the Daughter of Jerusalem.”

Notes

  • And you, O watchtower of the flock: Jerusalem was a fortified royal capital city with a watchtower for the defense and security of its people.

  • the former dominion will be restored: compare Amos 9:11–15; see 2 Samuel 7:11–16.

This message accuses the evil leaders who harmed God's people. It contrasts them with a vision of God's kingdom and a righteous king's rule. After facing judgment and exile, a purified Israel would return and receive God's blessings.
