Notes
Pilate wanted to release Jesus. However, the crowd became very angry and excited. They would not listen to reason or allow further discussion.
After Peter denied Christ , Mark returns to the story of Jesus and his trial. Pilate's hesitating under pressure matches what other sources say about his personality.
