Notes

a lamb without blemish or spot: The Jewish Passover lamb had to be without any defect (Exodus 12:5). Christ fulfills the meaning of the Passover. He was without defect or sin (compare Hebrews 4:14–16; 7:26–28).

New birth and the hope of salvation call Christians to live as God’s people. They must turn away from the values of the world and follow the holiness of God, who redeemed them.
