People once thought planets were wandering stars because they moved in irregular patterns across the sky. Similarly, false teachers wandered (by teaching things that were not true), and God condemned their actions.
This section explains "designated long ago for condemnation" in 1:4 by using Old Testament examples of God's judgment on false teachers.
