There at Riblah the king of Babylon slaughtered the sons of Zedekiah before his eyes, and he also killed all the nobles of Judah.

Notes

Zedekiah's last sight was the killing of his sons and all the nobles of Judah. This ensured that Zedekiah's rule could not continue.

As Jeremiah had predicted (Jeremiah 34:1–7), the Lord judged Zedekiah and the kingdom of Judah. For more details on this event, see Jeremiah 52:4–16; 2 Kings 25:1–21; 2 Chronicles 36:11–21; Ezekiel 24:1–14.
