Go now, write it on a tablet in their presence and inscribe it on a scroll; it will be for the days to come, a witness forever and ever.

Notes

God instructed the prophet to write down the vision for future generations. The present generation was rebellious. They chose false prophets' fantasies over God's word (see Isaiah 8:16–17).

After warning Judah of judgment due to their stubbornness and reliance on Egypt (Isaiah 30:1–17), God promised to show compassion to his people and defeat their enemies.
