For they will eat, and they will not be satisfied; they will prostitute themselves and not increase, because they have abandoned to give heed to YHWH.
Latin
Et comedent, et non saturabuntur; fornicati sunt, et non cessaverunt: quoniam Dominum dereliquerunt in non custodiendo.
Original
Hebrew
English
They will eat but not be satisfied; they will be promiscuous but not multiply. For they have abandoned the LORD to give themselves
Notes
God's judgment fits the punishment to the crime. The Israelites worshiped Canaanite fertility gods, hoping for abundant crops and herds. However, God's judgment was that they would remain hungry, and their religious practices would bring them no benefits.
