Consider carefully … from the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month: Some think "this day" means when they first cleared rubble from the temple site and gathered building materials, which was September 21, 520 BC (see Haggai 1:14–15).

The third message focuses on the law's rules about ceremonial purity. These rules were still in effect. God wants his people to be holy, just as he is holy (Leviticus 11:44–45).
