Original

Hebrew
English
I struck you—all the work of your hands—with blight, mildew, and hail, but you did not turn to Me, declares the LORD.

Notes

  • turn to Me: This often means repentance.

  • you did not: The Hebrew people were stubborn and rebellious from the time of Moses (Deuteronomy 31:27) to the time of Jesus (Matthew 17:17).

  • blight, mildew: These events happened because of disobedience to God's covenant (see Deuteronomy 28:22).

The third message focuses on the law's rules about ceremonial purity. These rules were still in effect. God wants his people to be holy, just as he is holy (Leviticus 11:44–45).
