Notes

At daybreak, Jacob began to understand the meaning of the struggle. He realized who his opponent was. Since he could not win by fighting, he held on and asked for God’s blessing.

Jacob went back to the land God promised him. Before this, God met, injured, and blessed him. God also changed his name to Israel. This event was a significant turning point for Jacob.
