some of your descendants … will be taken away: Hezekiah’s son Manasseh was captured and taken to Babylon (2 Chronicles 33:11–13). This prophecy was fully realized with Hezekiah’s descendants during the Babylonian deportations in:
605 BC (see 2 Kings 24:1 and 2 Kings 24:1; Daniel 1:1–7),
597 BC (2 Kings 24:10–12; 2 Chronicles 36:10), and
586 BC (2 Kings 25:5–7; 2 Chronicles 36:20; Jeremiah 39:1–7; 52:4–15).
In those days: This phrase gives a general time reference. It shows that the events are grouped by theme, not by strict order of time. The story about Merodach-baladan (2 Kings 20:12–19), who Sennacherib had expelled from Babylon before 701 BC, occurred before the events in chapters 18–19 but after Hezekiah's illness (2 Kings 20:12).
