Solomon’s journey to Gibeon, as reported in 1 Kings 3:4, is explained in more detail here. This important public event was closely linked to Solomon becoming king. Military commanders and clan leaders attended the event. It happened in Gibeon because the tabernacle and the great bronze altar, where sacrifices were often made, were located there.
