Gibeon was the main place of worship until they built the temple in Jerusalem (see 1 Chronicles 21:29; 2 Chronicles 1:3). They had to reorganize the tabernacle staff because some Levites moved permanently to Jerusalem.
The transfer of the ark (1 Chronicles 16:1–3) and the event's conclusion (16:43) are reported just like in Samuel (see 2 Samuel 6:17–20). However, between these parts, the Chronicler adds details about the celebrations and the permanent worship arrangements (1 Chronicles 16:4–42). David’s psalm of celebration is the main focus of the account.
