Notes

From heaven (Psalms 33:13; 80:14; 102:19), the Lord sees the wicked, who are clearly evil (Psalm 11:3–5). All humans lack wisdom and do not live in the way God originally intended for them (Psalm 10:4–11; see Romans 1–3).

Paul uses phrases from the Greek translation of this passage in his description of the wickedness of all people (Romans 3:10–12).

This wisdom psalm includes elements of lament and prophetic speech. The ideals of Psalm 8 clash with foolish human attitudes and sinful actions. Except for verses 5–6, this psalm is similar to Psalm 53.
