  • the whole palace guard: These were soldiers who worked in the official residence of the emperor or a Roman governor (see 4:22).

  • Paul was in prison for preaching the good news of Christ (compare Acts 21:26–28:31).

Paul was happy that his time in prison helped spread the good news about Jesus.
