Translations
Modern
“You know that the Passover is two days away, and the Son of Man will be handed over to be crucified.”
Traditional
Ye know that after two days is the feast of the passover, and the Son of man is betrayed to be crucified.
Literal
“You know that after two days the Passover takes place, and the Son of Man is delivered over to be crucified.”
Latin
Scitis quia post biduum Pascha fiet, et Filius hominis tradetur ut crucifigatur.
Original
Greek
English
“You know that the Passover is two days away, and the Son of Man will be handed over to be crucified.”
Notes
The irony is that the Son of Man, who will one day judge the nations (Matthew 25:31–46), must first be unfairly judged and condemned to death by evil people. The death of Jesus was the ultimate Passover sacrifice (see John 19:31–37; 1 Corinthians 5:7).
