Jesus often went to quiet places to pray, especially during important times in his life and work (Matthew 26:36–46; Mark 1:35; Luke 5:16; 6:12; 9:28).

Jesus showed his power over nature, giving the disciples a chance to trust him as the Son of God (Mathhew 14:33; see also 8:23–27; Psalm 8:6; Hebrews 2:8–9).
