Notes

The locust plague threatened the people of Judah with starvation. It stopped the daily animal sacrifices and grain and wine offerings at the temple in Jerusalem (compare Exodus 29:38–41; Numbers 28:2–8).

The prophet Joel describes a severe locust plague that struck Judah and Jerusalem.
