This is what the LORD says: “As for all My evil neighbors who attack the inheritance that I bequeathed to My people Israel, I am about to uproot them from their land, and I will uproot the house of Judah from among them.
Traditional
Thus saith the Lord against all mine evil neighbours, that touch the inheritance which I have caused my people Israel to inherit; Behold, I will pluck them out of their land, and pluck out the house of Judah from among them.
Literal
Thus says YHWH “Against all my evil neighbors who touch the inheritance that I have caused My people Israel to inherit—behold, I am plucking them from their land, and I will pluck up the house of Judah from their midst!

Notes

  • No evil nation would escape God's punishment, not even those He used to punish Judah. He would remove them.

  • The Lord would also uproot (remove) Judah, but this refers positively to freeing them from exile.

The Lord explained an important part of Jeremiah's mission (see Jeremiah 1:10).
