The restoration theme is connected with God’s promise to pour out the Spirit (see also Isaiah 32:15–17; Joel 2:28–32; Acts 2:16–18).
on your descendants … your offspring: The next generation of Israelites offered hope.
The promise of salvation gave Israel a future. Even though the people had sinned, God would still use them to bless the next generation (Isaiah 44:3).
The past had been dark because of their sin (see Isaiah 43:22–28). But the future would be different. God would begin a new time of blessing. His Spirit would change the people and make this new beginning possible.
