I will set My face against that man and make him a sign and a proverb; I will cut him off from among My people. Then you will know that I am the LORD.
Notes
Rather than using a false prophet to give divine guidance, the Lord would respond directly with a severe act of judgment. This would remove them from among his people. Whether this means death or excommunication, these insincere leaders would be taken out of the covenant community, the only place where true life exists.
