The Lord shall cause thee to be smitten before thine enemies: thou shalt go out one way against them, and flee seven ways before them: and shalt be removed into all the kingdoms of the earth.

Notes

This verse reverses the blessing given in 28:7. Instead of their enemies fleeing in seven directions, Israel would flee in seven directions.

The number seven shows completeness. It means they would be completely defeated and scattered.

This section explains the conditions for receiving the covenant blessing, the types of blessings, and the curses that will occur if people ignore or disobey these rules (28:1–14; 28:15–68).
