You must only offer the Passover sacrifice at the place the LORD your God will choose as a dwelling for His Name. Do this in the evening as the sun sets, at the same time you departed from Egypt.
Traditional
But at the place which the Lord thy God shall choose to place his name in, there thou shalt sacrifice the passover at even, at the going down of the sun, at the season that thou camest forth out of Egypt.
Literal
For only at the place where YHWH your God chooses for His Name to dwell, there you shall sacrifice the Passover in the evening, at the going down of the sun, at the time you came out of Egypt.

Notes

  • The Passover (Hebrew pesakh) is the feast celebrating God's deliverance of Israel from the tenth plague and from slavery in Egypt (see Exodus 11–12; Leviticus 23:5–8).

  • The exodus was so important in Israel's history that the month of Abib, when it happened, became the start of Israel's yearly calendar (see Exodus 12:2).
