English
And now, O LORD God, confirm forever the word You have spoken concerning Your servant and his house. Do as You have promised,

Notes

confirm forever the word You have spoken: David was not asking God for a sign (as Gideon had done, see Judges 6:17). Instead, David was saying, "God, let it happen."

David responded with prayer to God’s promise that his family would rule as kings for many generations. In his prayer, he repeatedly acknowledged that God alone is the true king and Sovereign Lord.

David was not happy just making a tent for the ark (2 Samuel 6:17). He wanted to build a house for God.
