Notes

For You know Your servant: God made his promises to David with full knowledge that David had both strengths and weaknesses.

David responded with prayer to God’s promise that his family would rule as kings for many generations. In his prayer, he repeatedly acknowledged that God alone is the true king and Sovereign Lord.

David was not happy just making a tent for the ark (2 Samuel 6:17). He wanted to build a house for God.
