Notes

God’s plan for David’s family line of kings extended far beyond David’s lifetime. This promise is fulfilled forever in the eternal reign of Jesus Christ (Revelation 11:15).

David responded with prayer to God’s promise that his family would rule as kings for many generations. In his prayer, he repeatedly acknowledged that God alone is the true king and Sovereign Lord.

David was not happy just making a tent for the ark (2 Samuel 6:17). He wanted to build a house for God.
