And Shaphan the scribe came to the king, and brought the king word again, and said, Thy servants have gathered the money that was found in the house, and have delivered it into the hand of them that do the work, that have the oversight of the house of the Lord.

And Shaphan the scribe went to the king, and the king brought back word and said, “Your servants have gathered the silver found in the house, and they have delivered it into the hand of those who do the work, who oversee the house of YHWH.”

Notes

The scroll called the Book of the Law might have included all or part of Deuteronomy or even the entire Pentateuch (compare Deuteronomy 31:26). We do not know how it was lost or where it was found in the temple. Shaphan quickly reported the important discovery and read it to the king.
