Notes

the remnant: Those not killed in God's coming judgment would be at the mercy of their captors. This prophecy came true when thousands of Judeans were taken captive during the Babylonian invasion and the fall of Jerusalem in 586 BC (2 Kings 25:8–21; 2 Chronicles 36:20; Jeremiah 39:9; 52:15).
