Notes

The priests were not ready for the large crowd. The issue might have been with priests from outside the city who missed the earlier purification. However, the people's response was better than that of the professional clerics, which was embarrassing for the clerics.

This story of Hezekiah's Passover celebration shows the Chronicler's focus on Israel's unity, the people's spiritual readiness, and the success of following Solomon's restoration plan at the temple dedication (2 Chronicles 7:14).
