Hezekiah faced several challenges before observing Passover. Although the temple was purified, the city was not. The gathered crowd's first task was to remove all pagan altars. They disposed of them in the Kidron Valley, where they could be burned.
This story of Hezekiah's Passover celebration shows the Chronicler's focus on Israel's unity, the people's spiritual readiness, and the success of following Solomon's restoration plan at the temple dedication (2 Chronicles 7:14).
