And he said unto his men, The Lord forbid that I should do this thing unto my master, the Lord’s anointed, to stretch forth mine hand against him, seeing he is the anointed of the Lord.

And he said to his men, “Far be it from me, YHWH, that I should do this thing to my master—to the anointed of YHWH—to stretch out my hand against him, since he is the anointed of YHWH.”

Notes

The Lord's anointed one was not to be harmed (1 Samuel 26:9, 11, 16, 23; 2 Samuel 1:14, 16; 19:21). David refused to hurt Saul, even though God had chosen David to be the next king (1 Samuel 16:13).
