Notes

  • Adullam was about 25.8 kilometers (16 miles) southwest of Jerusalem, near Philistine land.

  • If David's brothers and other relatives had stayed in Bethlehem, Saul could have easily targeted them for revenge.

Saul’s character is clear here. He could not take revenge on David himself. Instead, Saul killed those he believed had helped David.
