Notes
The psalmist is confident that the godly will be proven right and his enemies will fail (see Psalm 25:15–22).
This personal lament includes wisdom teachings and a community lament. It starts and ends with a declaration of trust in the Lord (Psalm 25:1–3, 15–22). The psalmist prays for guidance (Psalm 25:4–7) and urges the godly to live wisely (25:12–14).
In addition to the enemies who trouble him, the psalmist confesses his sins(Psalm 25:7, 11, 18) as part of his distress. Trust grows by understanding God's nature: He is compassionate, faithful, and good (Psalm 25:8–10).
These psalms develop the importance of:
God's care as a shepherd (Psalms 23:1; 28:9),
God's guidance (Psalms 23:2–3; 25:5; 27:11),
God's goodness (Psalms 23:6; 25:7–8; 27:13), and
living in his house (Psalms 23:6; 26:8; 27:4, 8).
