The Lord’s glory extends to the heavens (Psalms 57:5, 11; 99:2; 108:5; 138:6; Isaiah 6:1; 57:15) and throughout the world of human relationships.
This song of praise celebrates the greatness of the Lord's name and glory. God is exalted and glorious in heaven (Psalm 113:4). He also stoops down to care for the lowly and needy on earth (Psalm 113:5–9).
These psalms are called the Egyptian Hallel. Hallel means “praise.” Jewish people use these psalms during Passover, which began when God brought Israel out of Egypt in the exodus. The people recite Psalms 113–114 before the Passover meal, and Psalms 115–118 are recited afterward.
The word Hallelujah! is repeated throughout this group of psalms.
