Notes

Owls often live in deserted places, such as ruined cities. Because of this, the Bible sometimes uses the owl as a sign of ruin and desolation (Isaiah 34:11, 15).

A weak and suffering person prays for the Lord's mercy on Jerusalem and for his presence with its people.
