Esau: The Hebrew text uses the name of Esau, who was Jacob’s brother. This shows Edom broke a brotherly relationship (Obadiah 1:10–14).

The Babylonians destroyed Jerusalem completely. Edom shared in the loot, so they deserved the same punishment (see Obadiah 1:15–18).
