Notes
this mountan of the Abarim range: This was probably Mount Nebo (Deuteronomy 32:49). From this mountain, Moses looked over the promised land shortly before he died (Deuteronomy 34:1).
Israel needed a leader when they entered the land of Canaan. Joshua was chosen to follow Moses.
