English
Who can withstand His indignation? Who can endure His burning anger? His wrath is poured out like fire; even rocks are shattered before Him.
Notes
The Hebrew word translated "wrath" appears again from Nahum 1:2. This repetition marks Nahum 1:2–6 as one poetic section.
The hymn's first stanza uses biblical texts about Israel's exodus from Egypt. It teaches that everything in creation is under God's power. God will punish those who oppose him.
