Modern
But the man went out and openly began to proclaim and spread the news. Consequently, Jesus could no longer enter a town in plain view, but He stayed out in solitary places. Yet people came to Him from every quarter.
Traditional
But he went out, and began to publish it much, and to blaze abroad the matter, insomuch that Jesus could no more openly enter into the city, but was without in desert places: and they came to him from every quarter.
Literal
But he, having gone out, began to proclaim much and to spread abroad the word, so that He was no longer able to enter openly into a city, but He was out in wilderness places. And they were coming to Him from everywhere.
Latin
At ille egressus cœpit prædicare, et diffamare sermonem, ita ut jam non posset manifeste introire in civitatem, sed foris in desertis locis esset, et conveniebant ad eum undique.

English

Notes

  • Jesus instructed the man to visit the priest to confirm his healing and make the required sacrificial offering. This would act as public proof of his healing.

  • Despite the severe warning Jesus gave, the man went and told people what happened to him. As a result, Jesus could not enter the town and had to preach in more remote places. Jesus became widely known, and people from many places came to see him (3:7–8).
